Next week, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will announce their 2016 class of inductees. Over the past few years, fan voting has been added, but that amounts to only one vote among what the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame term as their commitee of “more than 600 artists, historians and members of the music industry.” So the industry heavyweights have the ultimate say. Although you would think fan opinion could sway theirs.
As fan voting concluded over the past few days, there was a surge in votes, leading organizers believe some “bots” or automated methods may have been employed to influenced the tally, so changes may be in the works for online fan voting next year.
However, as fan voting ended, here’s who is in the lead:
Chicago at 23.41 percent of the total
Yes No. 2 with 16.2 percent
Cars No. 3, 16.14 percent
Acts being inducted for 2016 will be announced on the 17th.
