My radio philosophy is simple and it works; play as much great rock
music as I can while having as much fun as legally possible.
I was born and raised just outside of Chicago in the town of Barrington,
Illinois. My friends and I would catch every rock concert that we
could, even if it meant making the long drive up to Alpine Valley
to see Ozzy with Randy Rhodes. Truthfully, The Loop was my favorite
radio station and one of the main reasons that I sought out a career
in broadcasting. Of course, breaking into radio in market #3 is no
easy task, so I was forced to move to Florida for my first gig.
My radio career started in 1991 at the infamous WXTB, 98 Rock in Tampa,
Florida. I did morning drive there for many years under the unusual
radio handle of “Bob Narley”. While there I created over
1800 comedy bits and formed the very popular parody rock band called
“The Killer Kona Buds.” We were invited to headline several
huge outdoor festivals in front of record crowds. It was a blast!
I was lucky enough to share the stage with bands like Joe Satriani,
Great White, Type O Negative, and Korn.
In 2001, I was offered a position to host my own morning show on WRQC
Real Rock 92.5. After 3 successful years, I decided it was time to
move my family back home to Chicago. I left a perfectly good radio
gig and moved out of SW Florida the day before a huge hurricane came
ashore and whipped out my house. Talk about lucky.
It feels great to be back in Chicago. I love this city. I recently
graduated from Second City and scored a gig working for my favorite
radio station of all time. I couldn’t be more thrilled.
