I have never heard rockers from a crowd scream so loudly while a band got ready for their encore. When Motley Crue took the stage for their final song there was so much enthusiasm in the crowd I thought the roof was going to shoot off from all the whistles, screams, chants, and rock signs! The lights came up revealing a grand piano on the stage as Tommy Lee walked out. (Just when I thought it couldn’t possibly get any louder in there!) Then came what we had all been waiting for. Those legendary first beautiful piano notes to one of all of our favorite Crue songs. Of course I am talking about “Home Sweet Home.” It was such an amazing way to end the best concert I have seen yet this summer! My roadie Mike couldn’t have put it better; I can hardly wait for them to return too! Way to rock out boys!

Motley Crue weren’t the only rockers of the evening. Crue Fest also included the bands Trapt, Six AM, Papa Roach, and Buckcherry. My favorite highlight of all of these bands; definitely the performance of “Crazy Bitch” by Buckcherry. The whole crowd sang every lyric as Josh Todd jumped around the stage. It was hot! Check out my roadie Mike’s new blog on his page at wlup.com for more first hand experience of Crue Fest!

Tonight’s concert will have to be mind blowing to top Crue Fest, but somehow I don’t think it’ll be tough for these guys… We all know who I’m talking about: Styx! That’s right; Styx and Boston are touring together and hitting Chicago. I am so ready to sing “Come Sail Away” and get my robot on to “Mr. Roboto.” This is going to be a blast. Make sure all of you attending stop by the Loop Booth and say hi! I’ll be signing autographs and taking pictures of course! Can’t wait to see you all there!

Saturday is also an exciting day for me as it will be my first charity event of the year. I’ve never been one to take the easy way out, and Saturday I will be pulling a 70,000+ lb. airplane with a team of 10! You should come out and join me! I will be at the Du Page Airport from 9:00am-12:00pm. You can get involved in two ways. The first option is to join my team by donating $100.00 and pull the plane with me. The second is to form a team of 10 of your own friends and family to go against my team. As an added incentive to joining my team you will receive a Loop shirt (which I’ll be happy to sign) and a $50 restaurant gift certificate. Check out the website to see how you can help me raise money for the Special Olympics. This event is going to be so great. It always feels good to help out, and it’s going to be so much fun doing it! I better hit the gym so I can beat all of you…

The rock just keeps coming this summer and I hope to see you at one of the Loop concerts coming up! Always make sure to stop by and say hi to us; we love to see our Loyal Loopers! Love you all!

Even the rain couldn’t ruin my appearance at Verizon Wireless for NASCAR last Thursday. Although the car was covered (which didn’t allow me to snag a picture of it!) plenty of Loyal Loopers were still around saying hi. It just made my day to know that even the rain can’t ruin rock! Thank you to all of you that came out to the Verizon Wireless Communication Store of Romeoville. You all are true Loopers!

Friday at Radio Shack was a ton of fun. I ran across the street to be one of the first to experience the NASCAR racing simulator. I have to apologize to the people who raced against me because I was purposely crashing my car! The simulation of the crash was awesome. I guess that’s what it would really feel like if you crashed a car on the track! I know I don’t really have to mention that I came in last place for the races, but I will tell you that crashing was just as much fun as winning.

Seeing so many people at the Radio Shack of Joliet was great too. I have made so many friends so far this year. It’s a blast to get to know all of you! Once again, thank you for all of your love and support. I was even serenaded at this event! You all are too much fun. Thanks for rocking with me!

Tonight is going to be one of the most thrilling experiences of my life. I have waited and longed for this day ever since I got the chance to meet Vince Neil at the Rock Girl Finals this year! It’s time to rock out at Crue Fest! We all know that Motely Crue are the craziest rockers around. I can’t wait to report back and tell you all of the Dirt of what goes on with The World’s Most Notorious Rock Band tonight. I am so excited to see the guys on stage for my first time! I can’t believe I’ve been a lifelong fan of Crue and still have never seen them live.

I hope they play all my favorites like “Girls, Girls, Girls,” and “Wild Side”, and “Home Sweet Home,” and “Smoking in the Boys Room” and of course “Dr. Feelgood!” They have so many hits and the new CD is BANGING too. I can’t wait for “Saints of Los Angeles” live! This is just going to be a great night out with one of my most favorite rock bands and my favorite rock fans – all of you!

Although this event doesn’t happen for a whole month, it’s selling really quick and I don’t want you to miss it! Johnny B. is holding his annual Golf Outing once again on Aug. 14th at Fox Run Golf Links in Elk Grove Village. All of the proceeds are going to benefit Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation. I will also be there selling 50/50 raffle tickets to do my share to help out. It’s a great opportunity to get involved and have fun while doing it. There will also be silent auctions set up for non-golfers (like myself!), and every golfer is guaranteed to go home with a prize. This is going to be an unbelievable day all going to a good cause so make sure to check out the website today to see how you can get involved!

So many exciting things are coming up as our summer is drawing to an end. Let’s make sure to end this summer on a rocking note! Come out to any of the events and have a good time with me. I can’t wait to see you all soon!

I’ve always been a lover of animals, but now horses are definitely one of my favorite! Last Wednesday at Hawthorne Racecourse I got to harness race against listeners! It was such a fast paced incredible experience!

Once I arrived at Hawthorne I had no idea what to expect. Thank goodness Hawthorne has a harness racing school! The staff gave us all the information we needed to learn all about harness races and the horses. It was such a blast!

After taking the horses for a quick spin around the track to get used to them and feeding my horse some lucky carrot sticks, I was ready to race her. My horse seemed really ready too, but when we got to the race she just didn’t want to run! After coming in 5th place and getting the dirtiest on the track, I am happy to announce that Jessica Sanchez won the race! She will be joining me with 14 of her friends in our own 2 hour private party in a personal suite at Hawthorne. We will have a free buffet, open bar and Jessica will receive $50 to gamble with! I can’t wait to party like rockstars with Jessica and her friends! A special thank you to Hawthorne Racecourse as well for having us and for allowing us to get the special time on the track.

Dairy Queen’s blizzard of the month is one you definitely will have to try! They put Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies in the blizzard and it is unbelievable! Myself and the firefighters of trucks 23 and 58 as well as engines 89 and 108 got to share the delicious treats today. Thanks for everything guys! It was so nice to meet all of you!

This week is a full and exciting one! Thursday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 I will be at Verizon Wireless in Romeoville! Come join me and enter for your chance to win a Richard Petty Driving Experience Ride-Along gift card!

Friday, I will also be at Radio Shack in Joliet! I will be there from noon to 2:00 to present the Sprint Racing Experience, NASCAR’s racing simulator! Stop by and enter to win your chance at some amazing NASCAR prizes!

This Sunday is going to ROCK! I can hardly wait to see 3 Doors Down with special guests Staind and Hinder! They are performing at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre. Can’t wait to see you all there!

We have an eventful rock’n week ahead of us Loopers! Hope to see you all!

Getting up bright and early wasn’t a problem for me last Friday! Einstein’s Bagels located at 400 N. Dearborn had their grand opening, which allowed me to get a great breakfast at a great price! I highly recommend their ham and cheese hot sandwich! Not only was breakfast great, but I met so many new faces! I had so much fun getting to know all of you over your cups of coffee! It was also a special treat to meet all of the Cordeck Sales Ironworkers! Thanks for making my morning special guys! You all were too much fun!

After having a wonderful morning, I was scared the rain was going to ruin my afternoon at Gerber Collision and Glass of Elmhurst. Thank goodness I was wrong! The weather stayed sunny and made my appearance there a great one too! Congratulations to the gas winners! It was also great to have a special visit from the Elmhurst fire engine 1. Thanks for the fire hat guys! I hope you all had as much fun as I did!

Tonight is busy not only for me, but also for all of you out there! Tom Petty is tonight! I know it’s going to be a great show, especially since Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are number 8 on my roadie Mike’s top 10 list of his favorite rock bands at wlup.com. I hope you all have a great time! I won’t see you there because I’ve got a special event to attend of my own!

Can’t wait to race some of you at Hawthorne tonight! I am so excited to get to be on the track once again, especially since this time I will actually have something to do with the horses and I don’t have to run! I will be pulled behind the horse tonight in a harness race against other qualifiers! The winners will get to bring 14 of their friends and receive a 2 hour private party with me in our own personal suite at Hawthorne. The winners also receive a free buffet, open bar and a $50 voucher to gamble with! It’s going to rock! Can’t wait to see who will actually beat me!

Next Tuesday I also get to once again surprise some of our local firehouses with some great Dairy Queen treats! I wonder where we’ll go this time? I also can’t wait to see what this month’s flavor is! It’s going to be a delicious surprise!

Keep rocking Chicago! We got some amazing events yet to come this summer and some amazing concerts to attend! Can’t wait to see you all soon!

Gerber Collision and Glass comes highly wreck-ommended, and now I know why! Last Thursday at their Orland Park location was such a great time. They gave away gas cards, prizes, and I was there with the Loop staff giving out prizes of our own! I even got a little Frisbee game in and learned that I am an awful baggo player.

I will practice my baggo skills because this Friday I’ll be at Gerber once again, but this time at their Elmhurst location! They are located at 500 West Lake Street. I will be there from 1:00 to 3:00 for you’re chance to enter win $50 in free gas and qualify to be one of three Grand Prize winners of $5000 in free gas! Can’t wait to see all of you there driving your cars courtesy of Gerber!

Before my Gerber appearance on Friday, I also have special event to attend that morning. Thank goodness because I’m going to need my cup of joe for the day! And what better place then to get a yummy bagel sandwich and a coffee then at Einstein’s Bagels! Stop by any time between 9:00 and 11:00 and attend the grand opening of Einstein’s at 400 N. Dearborn here in downtown Chicago. I’ll be there signing autographs as well as giving away Loop prizes and Einstein’s gift certificates. You could possibly have breakfast on me that day! Hope to see you there too!

The Loop and I will also be out at Hawthorne Racecourse next Wednesday! Make sure you visit wlup.com for your chance to “grab the reins” in a Harness Race against me! The winner of this race will get to bring 14 of their friends and receive a 2 hour private party with me in our own personal suite at Hawthorne. The winners also receive a free buffet, open bar and a $50 voucher to gamble with! Go register now to race me! I promise it’s going to be a blast. Good luck beating me!

There is so much going on right now…this week is going to rock! Can’t wait to see you all out! Come enjoy the summer and The Loop with me!

With the reputation that Iron Maiden has built up for themselves I was expecting to see one of the best rock shows to ever exist. Thank goodness the guys didn’t let me down! Iron Maiden is truly the epitome of rock and roll!

The volume of the Allstate Arena was at its loudest! Iron Maiden not only rocked hard, they were one of the loudest concerts I have ever attended! The volume had me pumped up! As I entered the arena, the site was just phenomenal! Between the set changes, the bands energy, the amazing costumes and masks of Bruce Dickinson, and of course the loud and appealing pyrotechnics, there just wasn’t a moment left that I wasn’t completely zoned into the music! I couldn’t have asked for a better time!

It was so great to see so many familiar faces and to meet so many new faces at the show as well! I will tell you one thing; there is nothing like the fans of Iron Maiden! From the moment I set down my stuff down to start greeting you, the excitement, enthusiasm, and pure rock and roll life style was just oozing out of every one of you! It was great! I can’t wait to see you all again really soon!

And here’s your chance! This week I will be at Gerber Collision and Glass in Orland Park from 4-6pm on Thursday, June 19th. Make sure to stop by and enter for your chance to win $50 in free gas and qualify to be one of three Grand Prize winners of $5000 in free gas! With gas prices the way they are wouldn’t you be ecstatic to get some free! I wish I could enter! Good luck to all of you and I can’t wait to see you there!

Keep rocking hard Chicago! We truly are the city of rock, and this week at Iron Maiden you all proved that too me! Love you all!

What a rush…literally! The Rush concert at the United Center this past Monday was exactly that! Not only did the band sound absolutely fabulous, whether you were front row or up top, they sounded amazing outside in the atrium! I was also completely blown away by Neil Peart’s drum solo! Lucky me, I also got a set of his used drum sticks and had the chance to meet him and Geddy before the show! I hope that all of you Loyal Loopers who were able to find me at the Daley Center before the show and scored free tickets enjoyed it as well! Glad I could get you out there with me! I sure do love my job!

After watching a huge handful of people try to drop straws into beer bottles for tickets at Outpost Pub and Grill in Lockport last Thursday, I was stoked to experience the NHRA races this past Saturday at the Route 66 Raceway in Joliet. I got to watch first Hector race our Loyal Looper David Ritz down the track. David won the race, and after that the amazing Brandon Bernstein, the NHRA Bud King, raced David. Can you believe David won! I think he should consider making a career change to become a racecar driver! He was unbelievable!

I was also excited once again to bring cold to the hot… that is bring some yummy Dairy Queen blizzards to some of our hard working firefighters. Our West Side departments got the special treats this time and showed me some kindness and hospitality. Not only that, but I got to work the sirens on the engine! I didn’t know there was so much work put into that! It’s not easy to be a firefighter, that’s for sure! Thank you so much to the boys of engine 44 and truck 36 as well as engine 117 and tower ladder 14. I was so happy to be your special guest!

This week has already had a great start, and there’s still more! Iron Maiden was this week at the Allstate Arena! It’s part of their huge Somewhere Back in Time World Tour. I’ll tell you more about it next week….it was fantastic! Till then keep rock’n Chicago!

What an amazing experience! This was my first time seeing Van Halen, and gosh was I impressed! The legendary band played this past Friday at the Allstate Arena with the original crew including Eddie Van Halen, David Lee Roth, Alex Van Halen, and Wolfgang Van Halen. They sounded absolutely incredible! I have to say the best parts of the show were “Hot for Teacher” and the encore “Jump”. David Lee Roth came out in a white top hat and leather pants (which he wore throughout the show; a true rockstar!) and got the whole crowd jumping out of their seats as the stadium filled with confetti! I really hope they come back into town again! I couldn’t miss another astounding show like that and another chance to see David Lee Roth’s rock hard abs! Man, are those guys in shape!

This past Saturday I also got to see many of you Northside Loyal Loopers up in Waukegan at Lake County Powersports for their Motorcross Open House! I had a blast signing autographs and posing on some awesome bikes for pictures. They also had complimentary hot dogs and burgers fresh off the grill…yummy! Thanks to all of you that joined me on one of the most beautiful days we’ve had yet here in our windy city!

I wish I had the opportunity to drive a race car! Unfortunately, I don’t, but you can! Join Hector and I on Thursday, the 5th, at Outpost Pub and Grill in Lockport from 8:00-10:00pm for a chance to win tickets to NHRA and actually win a chance to “Race the King”: NHRA driver Brandon Bernstein at Route 66 Raceway on Saturday the 7th! It’s going to be a blast! I hope to see you all there!

It looks like The Loop isn’t going to allow me to have a summer week be complete without a fantastic rock show to attend! Who’s ready to see Rush next Monday?!? I know I can hardly wait! Rush will be at the United Center for their “Snakes and Arrows World Tour”! It’s going to be unbelievably spectacular! Listen all Monday morning and afternoon: I may have some tickets to give away! This week is going to rock! I can’t wait to see you at Rush!

5-28-08

The Loop sure knows how to make me feel like a celebrity! This last Friday was my first taste at stardom… I had my first photo shoot as your Rock Girl. It was absolutely amazing! I got my hair and make up done compliments of Thomas West Salon of Chicago. They did an incredible job: I’ve never felt more beautiful!

The photo shoot was so much fun! The new pictures should be up on the website this week. Then, after the excitement of my photo shoot I didn’t think the day could get any better. I sure was wrong! I still had the Kid Rock show to experience! It’s hard to recap in words just how fantastic Kid Rock’s show truly was!

Before the show started, I was allowed to go back stage and have a quick interview with the American Bad Ass himself! I was so nervous and anxious! Kid Rock was so kind and sweet. We had a wonderful interview and he answered all my fun questions as well. Check out the video HERE!! It includes footage of my primping at the salon, my photo shoot, and my interview with Kid! Make sure you look for it! I’d love to know what you all thought of my amazing day!

Kid Rock’s performance at the Sears Centre was one of the most miraculous concerts I have ever been to. He did such a great job of performing all my favorite songs. “So Hot” was definitely the high light of the show for me! The crowd was having so much fun yelling “hot” with him, and I was screaming it as loud as I could too! I lost my voice that night!

One thing I really loved about the show was when Kid Rock took a moment out to thank all of us for spending our hard earned money on his show. He then reminded us that we may not have a lot in common there. After all, there were people there ready to listen to all of Kid’s different genres: hard rock, southern rock, hip hop, and even country. He told us the one thing we did have in common was “we’re all here to listen to some damn good music!” He then told us to greet our fellow concert goers. This caused the whole crowd to start giving one another hi fives and shake hands. It was a great bonding experience for everyone involved, and I loved it! It really encouraged the crowd to enjoy the concert together!

What a great week this was! I had a truly outstanding and very memorable Memorial Day Weekend. I hope you got to rock as hard as I did! If not, here’s yet another chance!

I will be out with the Loop on Friday, May 30th, for what I’m anticipating to be yet another astonishing show! Van Halen is coming to the Allstate Arena! How could they not be amazing! The show starts at 7:30. I hope to see all of you there enjoying all the guys: Eddie Van Halen, David Lee Roth, Alex Van Halen, and Wolfgang Van Halen with special guest KY-Mani Marley! It’s going to be great!

This Saturday, May 31st, is going to be yet another great time! I’ll be at Lake County Powersports located at 1550 Grand Ave. in Waukegan from 12:00 to 2:00 for the Motorsports Madness Open House. Stop by and win $500 in gift certificates and a Fieldshear High Mesh Jacket! I can’t wait to see all of you North Side Loyal Loopers! ‘Till then keep rock’n Chicago!

5-21-08

This week you all have helped me to really start feeling like your Loop Rock Girl. I have started to settle in at the station. All of the employees at The Loop are so friendly, I just love working with all of them. All of your e-mails are so sweet and kind. Thank you for all your support and for chatting with me! I hope to hear from you more this year.

I also got recognized on the street…twice! That was a little shock to me. I guess it really hadn’t hit me until now that being your Rock Girl means I get the star treatment. The first time I was recognized I got off the train in my current town, Lombard, and two people standing outside a bar called me by name! They then asked me to autograph their napkins! They were so sweet.

The second time I was recognized I was out with some friends at a south side bar. While walking through the bar listening to an amazing cover band, a sweet female Loyal Looper ran up and asked me for a picture. Of course we took one and it’s now on my Myspace page! And it's definitely so cool to see so many of you wearing your Loop logo proud! Like last weekend at National Train Day, I saw tons of Loop shirts!

I can hardly wait for this Friday as well. We all know what this Friday is, Kid Rock baby! The show is going to be unbelievable. Lucky me, I also get a personal interview with Kid Rock before the show! Before the interview I have a photo shoot, (this is going to be a blast!) and before the photo shoot I have a salon appointment scheduled at Thomas West Salon to get the full celebrity primping. Running around all day may sound like a busy and stressful day to most people, but to me it’s a dream come true!

Keep your eyes peeled for the video and the new pictures. They will be up on The Loop website next week. I promise to take the best pictures I can for your viewing pleasure! Plus, I’d love to know what you all thought of my interview! Hope to see some of you at the show!

This year has been incredibly great so far! If this is any indication of how the rest of the year will be I can’t wait for it to come! Hope to see all of you soon! Keep rocking Chicago!

5-14-08

I’ve always been a fan of taking the train into Chicago. Being a suburban girl, I got used to taking the train back and forth for special occasions. Little did I know until National Train Day just how many people loved trains as much as I do! I was so ecstatic to celebrate National Train Day this past weekend with Eddie Webb and to get my first chance to meet all of you! I met so many great people this weekend, and boy was my hand tired from signing 200 t- shirts! I was so flattered so many people wanted my autograph! I just couldn’t stop smiling all day! It was also a blast to meet so many of your children! National Train Day was a full family event including free giveaways from hats to t-shirts and even a life sized Thomas the Tank Engine! It offered me the opportunity to pose with so many little Loyal Loopers! They are so cute and I’m so happy your teaching your kids the way my dad taught me; that there isn’t better music out there then rock and roll and listening to The Loop!

Tuesday morning was another adventure all its own. I love Dairy Queen blizzards, so I was so excited to have the opportunity to bring some delicious ice cream to our local Chicago firemen! I think they were happy to see me too. Not only did I get dressed in some gear (including boots) for some pictures, I also got to ride in the basket on top of the truck’s ladder all the way to the top. The view of the city of Chicago was so beautiful! Just another reminder why I love this city so very much! A special thanks to stations 106 and 112. This Friday is going to be an exciting day as well. I get to have my first photo shoot! I’ll do my best to get some amazing pictures for you all to view. I just can’t wait. I have a salon date all set up, so my hair and make up will be done for me! It feels so amazing to get the star treatment, let me tell you! I think we may even have a video of me getting pampered, so keep your eyes peeled for that as well. I can’t wait to see how the pictures come out; I’ll post them as soon as possible!

Keep rocking Chicago! I hope to see you all very soon!

5-7-08

Hello to all my Loyal Loop listeners! It’s your new 2008 Loop Rock Girl here, Kelly! I am so excited to get this year started and can’t wait to meet all of you at the amazing events we have planned for this summer.

I cannot thank all of you enough for your help during this competition. Your love and support have put me here today. I am so honored to be crowned your 2008 Loop Rock Girl! The final event on Saturday night was such an incredible and crazy experience! I was going berserk before the event. I wanted everything to be perfect so I could put my best foot forward for the judges and the crowd. It was nerve racking to be on stage in front of such an amazing panel as well! The reality still hasn’t completely set in yet. I was definitely in shock when Eddie Webb called my name! I thought my heart was going to beat right out of my chest and fall onto the stage it was thumping so hard! I was more than a little surprised to win, but I do know that I am ready to give you the best year I possibly can!

Austin’s was such a fantastic venue for the final event. When I first walked out onto the stage to one of my favorite rock songs (Poison’s “Talk Dirty to Me”) I couldn’t believe how packed the place was. There were smiling faces everywhere! The pressure was doubled once I realized the legendary Vince Neil was the judge who got to ask me my question. I was so relieved when he asked me a question I knew the answer to: What is the capital of California? Thank goodness for my 5th grade teacher Mr. Swanson! After that, I felt pretty comfortable and was so happy my special time on stage went smoothly. Most of all, I was happy I didn’t trip or have something terrible happen, although doing the worm in heels was pretty embarrassing! This Saturday, May 10th is my first official day to rock out with you as your Loop Rock Girl! I am thrilled to get the chance to hang out with all of you! I will be out with Eddie Webb for National Train Day at the river walk right by Union Station located at 210 South Canal Street in Chicago from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. I can’t wait to see you all there! Let’s make this the best year yet, Chicago!
