Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury and Paul McCartney are among the greatest pop singers in the world — or at least the ones with the greatest demonstrated vocal range.
A study by Concert Hotels measuring the range of current and past singers ranked Tyler ranked #4, Bowie #8, McCartney #9 and Freddie Mercury at #11. But who came in at the top of the list?
Axl Rose!
Axl just beat out Mariah Carey with a huge recorded range of F1 to B-sharp 6. That’s almost the entire keyboard, folks.
Others on the list include John Lennon, Elton John, Roger Daltrey, Bruce Springsteen, Bono, Jim Morrison, Robert Plant, Mick Jagger, Steve Winwood, Paul Rodgers, Steve Perry, Neil Young, and Stevie Nicks.
The full interactive list, with ranges and the songs used to measure them, can be found at ConcertHotels.com.
