Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has announced that September 23 will be David Bowie Day to celebrate the opening of the acclaimed "David Bowie Is…" exhibit at the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art. The mayor's proclamation calls Bowie "an undisputed global icon boasting a catalog of 26 critically acclaimed studio albums" and acknowledges that his "remarkable half-century career has bridged cultures and faiths while both transcending and fortifying the music, art, fashion & design, and theatrical canons."
