Listen: Zeppelin Releases Alternate Version of ‘Stairway to Heaven’

Led Zeppelin have released an alternate mix of version of "Stairway To Heaven" from the expanded reissue of  "Led Zeppelin IV", due next Tuesday (10/28).

What immediately stands out is that you hear more guitar – and some riffs you might not have heard in the 1971 original release.  The stereo separation also appears wider.

"The Sunset Sound mix of 'Stairway to Heaven' was actually mixed at Sunset Sound in L.A. in advance of the version that everybody knows," says Jimmy Page. "I think it's a really good embodiment of everything that's on there. It's a guitar mix, really."

The "Led Zeppelin IV" deluxe edition also includes alternate mixes of "Misty Mountain Hop" and "Four Sticks", mixes of "The Battle Of Evermore" and "Going To California" with more guitar and mandolin.

Don't forget that you have a shot at winning copies of the remastered "Led Zeppelin IV" and "Houses of The Holy" this weekend!
