Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones will be in Los Angeles for the plagiarism case brought against them by the estate of the late Spirit guitarist Randy California over “Stairway to Heaven” sounding a lot like Spirit’s “Taurus.”
As a result, Plant has been forced to cancel his appearance at a benefit for the British Red Cross’s refugee awareness campaign during England’s Meltdown Festival on June 19th. His spokesperson says, “Robert has been enthusiastic to help in any way to the increased awareness and support of so many powerless and distraught peoples. Therefore the opportunity afforded at Guy Garvey’s Meltdown was an event that Robert was passionately drawn to.”
The court hearing starts on June 14th.
