METALLICA- Latest Fake Gig Victim

Remember back in April when some internet pranksters duped people into thinking Limp Bizkit was playing a Sunoco station in Ohio? Well, someone in Arizona was inspired to pull a similar gag using Metallica.

A Facebook event page was set up for two Metallica shows at a closed location of Joe’s Crab Shack in Tucson on August 7th and August 9th. The event page said that tickets were being sold at all Los Betos Restaurant locations in town and — in the best part of the prank — that five “golden tickets” for VIP access would be hidden in carne asada burritos.

Not surprisingly, many people fell for the gag. Andrea Grey, whose family owns seven Los Betos locations, told KVOA-TV they don’t know where the promotion idea came from, but employees’ time has been taken up fielding calls. Grey said, “They were telling us they were getting a lot of random calls talking about tickets and winning concert tickets that we were supposedly selling or raffling off.”
