Jimmy Page has finally broken his silence on the “Stairway to Heaven” trial.
In a post on his Facebook page, the Led Zeppelin guitarist avoids the details of the case — in which he and singer Robert Plant were cleared of lifting the song “Taurus” by the band Spirit for the opening section of their iconic anthem. Instead, Page simply thanks fans for their support.
He writes: “A few weeks have past since the judgment of the “Stairway to Heaven” case in Los Angeles, with the jury reaching a unanimous decision in a remarkably short time. Throughout the lengthy journey to that verdict, and even more recently, I have received and been aware of the overwhelming wave of support, encouragement and congratulations that has been deeply moving. I’d like to take this opportunity to personally thank all those who contributed such a positive energy to me.”
Page and Plant aren’t totally off the hook yet. Over the weekend, lawyers for plaintiff Michael Skidmore filed an appeal of the court’s decision.
