Metallica frontman James Hetfield thinks their upcoming Hardwired… To Self-Destruct may be the “leanest” album they’ve ever made.
In an interview with BBC Music 6, Hetfield contrasts it with the band’s last album, 2008’s Death Magnetic, saying that that one “kept getting bigger and bigger as it went along,” with songs getting “longer endings and that type of stuff.” He says this one’s just the opposite — the songs “got tighter and leaner and a little more concise.”
He feels Hardwired… To Self-Destruct is definitely Metallica at the leanest they’ve been for a while, and “maybe even the leanest [they’re] capable of.” It comes out November 18th.
