The Rolling Stones headlined night #1 of what’s been mocked as “Old-Chella” in Indio, California, this weekend and even made light of the geezer line-up, saying, “Tonight we’re not going to do any age jokes or anything, OK? Welcome to the Palm Springs retirement home for gentle English musicians”.
But, in a first, The Rolling Stones paid tribute to their friendly rivals The Beatles with a very Stonesy take on Beatles classic “Come Together” at the much hyped Desert Trip festival. Stones singer Mick Jagger introduced the song, saying, “”We’re gonna do a cover song of a sort of unknown beat group. I think you might remember [them], we’re gonna try a cover of one of their tunes,”
