There’s no denying that Freddie Mercury had one of the most distinctive voices — often imitated, but never duplicated.
Marc Martel, the singer in the official Queen-sanctioned tribute band Queen Extravaganza, not only sounds like Mercury, but he also bears a striking resemblance. He has posted a video on the Queen website in which he basically says he learned to sing by imitating singers, but adds that sounding like Mercury is just the way he sings. He says, “I just naturally sound like Freddie.”
In the video, Martel demonstrates some of Freddie’s vocal stylings, and, in doing so, reveals how much Freddie and George Michael sound alike. Check it out at QueenOnline.com.
