In great news for Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana music lovers, the Star Plaza Theater in Merrillville will not close and be demolished as had been announced a few months ago. Ownership said in a statement that an “outpouring of support and sadness” will spare the popular venue from the wrecking ball, and that construction of a new hotel that will replace the current Radisson can go on without disturbing the theater.
