Earlier this year, the Scorpions replaced drummer James Kottak with Mikkey Dee, formerly of Motorhead.
Kottak, who has a history of alcohol abuse, has finally broken his silence. In a post on the band’s website he says, “Hello to all my family, friends, and freaks. I want to send a HUGE thank-you from the bottom of my heart for the thousands of messages of hope and positivity during my time of healing! I am humbled and honored by your love and gracious offerings… I am healthy and happy living in the now… I have been given the ultimate gift of life with my personal RE-boot. To quote one of my favorite songs ‘Tomorrow is a Brand New Day.’”
In 2014, Kottak, was jailed in Dubai and fined $300 for unruly behavior towards Muslims. Shortly after, he issued a statement admitting he’s an alcoholic.
