Metallica- Hey, Thanks for the Warning!

When Metallica announced last week that they’d play a club show in Toronto to raise money and goods for a local food bank, one organization was very surprised — the food bank!

All proceeds from the show last night (Tuesday) at the Opera House went to the Daily Bread Food Bank, and besides the money, the audience of 950 people were required to bring non-perishable food items to the show.

Benita Aalto of the Daily Food Bank tells the CBC they had no idea the gift was coming their way when the concert was announced. “This was a delightful surprise. We had one person calling us, saying if we had an inside track to Metallica tickets, ‘I will give you $1000 for two.’ It’s wonderful that people are thinking that we are connected to Metallica. But we’re not — we’re just the delighted recipients of their generosity.”
