Ratt- Name Fight Not Done Yet

Bobby Blotzer insists he’ll be able to continue to tour under the Ratt name for the foreseeable future, even in the face of a court ruling about the band’s partnership.

Last month, a judge ruled in favor singer Stephen Percy, guitarist Warren DeMartini and bassist Juan Croucier, who claimed that the band’s original 1985 partnership agreement invalidated a 1997 partnership agreement called WBS, which Blotzer used to gain control of the name. Percy, DeMartini and Croucier said they’d had Blotzer thrown out of their partnership and would tour under the Ratt name next year.

Blotzer and his lawyer, Drew Sherman, appeared on One on One With Mitch Lafon and flatly claimed that nothing had changed. Sherman said no judgment against Blotzer had been made and that “Stephen, Juan, Warren, whatever they’re going out as, they do not have permission to [go out as Ratt]. So right now they’re infringing the trademarks of Ratt owned by WBS.”

Blotzer added that he plans to use the name for gigs he has booked in 2017.
