The hologram of Ronnie James Dio that was unveiled in August at the Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany will make its American debut at the 28th annual Pollstar Awards in L.A. on February 2nd.
A number of versions of the Dio hologram, covering different eras of his life, will be used during shows by Dio Disciples later this year. Those are still to be announced. Dio Disciples includes former Dio members Craig Goldie, Scott Warren and Simon Wright and will feature singers Tim “Ripper” Owens and Oni Logan. Dio’s widow, Wendy, who manages the band, is firmly behind the use of the hologram, and is also working with its manufacturer, Eyellusion.
Wendy Dio talks about how people reacted to the hologram at Wacken last year.
