PETE TOWNSHEND: Show of His Own

Pete Townshend will follow up The Who’s U.K. tour, which starts in London next month, with a solo appearance at a benefit concert there on April 19th.

Townshend and British comedians Jason Manford and Rob Deering will help raise funds for a charity called Parkinson’s UK at Symfunny No. 2 at the Royal Albert Hall. He says, “We collaborated on several songs, one very silly one called ‘Football Fugue,’ which I will perform on the night. If I’m allowed to speak, I can be funny, too.”

Parkinson’s took the life of his ex-wife’s father, the composer Edwin Astley.

The Who tour starts at the Albert Hall on March 30th with the first of two benefit shows for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
