U2 bassist Adam Clayton enjoys traveling and visiting art galleries.
Speaking on the RTE show The Work Presents, he says, “Seeing art shows, figuring out what artist is going to make it, is very similar to the music business. The curators are almost like the music press and the galleries are a little bit like record companies…”
For the last year he has been writing about art in the British edition of GQ magazine, reviewing exhibits and interviewing artists. He says it was the only subject he was good at in school. He recalls driving around with Bono trying to sell his paintings, saying it “seemed a lot more fun than going to college and getting my exams.”
