I’m rolling through 1981 on “40 for 40 (at 8:40)” tonight, which got me thinking about the “Heavy Metal” movie.

I remember as a pre-teen seeing the trailer and thinking it had to be the greatest thing ever: Animation! Boobies! Blue Oyster Cult! Robots! Spaceships! Boobies! When I did eventually see the movie (on VHS, no less), it was kind of a let down. I wouldn’t say “Heavy Metal” holds up (not many anthologies do, for what it’s worth), but it still has a coolness and ballsiness to it that are tough to beat.
