‘Felony Franks’ sentenced to close

Felony Franks, the Oak Park hot dog joint staffed by ex-offenders, has closed. As reported in the Tribune, Felony Franks president Deno Andrews made the news public on his Facebook page. Andrews listed a bunch of reasons for the closing, including his commitments as Oak Park village Trustee and cost of doing business.

Andrews says that in the three years Felony Franks was in Oak Park, it had a 0% recidivism rate. He goes on to note that Chicago had a 54% rate during the same time period.

Is this the end of Felony Franks? Maybe, maybe not. He floated the idea of someone taking over the business, describing it as a “turn-key situation.”
