Nutella, the delightful chocolate-meets-hazelnut spread, has changed his recipe and people online are pissed. I saw one tweet that threatened a boycott, as though the company had suddenly committed an act beyond forgiveness, like adding worms and glass to the recipe.
Nutella explained the change to a user on Twitter:
our recipe underwent a fine-tuning and continues to deliver the Nutella fans know and love with high quality ingredients
— Nutella (@NutellaUSA) November 8, 2017
A consumer group in Germany first noticed the change and noted the sugar content’s up slightly (55.3-55.9 percent), the amount of skim milk powder increased from 7.5-8.7 percent and the fat content is slightly down (31.0-30.9 percent).
But does it taste any different? That’ll be the focus of an intense (and likely lonely) night in my future. In the meantime, all I know for sure is the brown color is a little lighter.
