The sweetened beverage tax is gone. As of today–four months after it took effect–you no longer need to pay extra for your Mountain Dew Code Red.

The dark side of the tax repeal is that hundreds of county employees have been–or will be–laid off to make up for the loss in tax revenue originally expected from the soda tax.
