The Library of Congress announced today that it won’t continue to archive every public tweet on Twitter.
They’d been backing everything up for the past seven years, but now the Library says its going to be more selective with what it archives.
Why the change? The Library of Congress said Twitter’s shift to double the character limit had something to do with it. The more-frequent posting of images with tweets was also a concern.
The change takes effect on New Year’s Eve, meaning you have a few more days to say ridiculous stuff and have it archived for eternity.
