“Playboy” may be yanked out of circulation soon. A report in the Tribune says a shift in ownership from the Hefner family to private equity firm Rizvi Traverse could result in the end of the magazine’s publication.
A managing partner at the firm told the Wall Street Journal, “We want to focus on what we call the ‘World of Playboy’ which is so much larger than a small, legacy print publication.”
The “small, legacy print publication” is losing money to the tune of $7 million per year… making it likely that “The World of Playboy” will spin on an axis that doesn’t include magazines.
