I’m digging into 1980 for 40 for 40 (at 8:40) tonight. It was a killer year for movies, including the big-screen debut of the Blues Brothers. There’s a case to be made for it being the best “Chicago” movie ever; here are just a few examples:
Chez Paul’s long gone, but this scene inside the restaurant is a classic. “How much for your wife?”
The police chase down Lower Wacker is amazing:
Elwood’s apartment was on Van Buren, between State and Dearborn…
“Ray’s Music Exchange” was on East 47th, just west of Martin Luther King Drive:
Finally, this early scene is still hilarious… “Christ, Jake, take it easy… ”
