Live event ticket prices soar

“Hamilton” hit a ticket-price high this week, peaking at $1150 for a single ticket. That’s the “premium” seating price, which previously topped out at $849. Broadway fans are willing to pay top dollar for their shows, but what about music fans? I took a quick scan on Ticketmaster to see where prices sit across the board:

Eagles tickets in the “Platinum” range (Seg 1, Row 16) at the United Center were selling for $465 each this morning.

Michael Bolton is a comparative steal, with tickets for this Friday’s show at Four Winds topping out at $69.

Old 97’s Thalia Hall gig on March 1 still has seated balcony tickets for $40; it’s only $25 for tickets on the floor.

Kid Rock’s show at the United Center on March 16 has high end tickets going for $129.

REO Speedwagon at the Rialto next month only has single seats left, with resale prices going for $250 per ticket. On the other hand, REO cover band Hi Infidelity is playing Joe’s on January 6 for a general admission price of eight bucks.
