Appearing in the initial 1977 “Star Wars” film, then “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi”, Kenny Baker was the 3′ 8″ character who brought R2D2 to life. He returned in 1999 to reprise the role in the so called “prequels”.
Always a humorous and good natured figure in interviews, Baker was found dead in England today at the age of 81.
