AC/DC’s last man standing is Angus Young. As the band was launching the “Rock Or Bust” album and tour two years ago, his brother and the band’s rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young was committed to assisted living as he was suffering from dementia. Their nephew Steve stepped in to fill the position.
Then longtime drummer Phil Rudd was arrested and charged in a murder for hire plot and drug possession and subsequently dismissed from the group.
More problems. As the band was touring earlier this year, they suddenly postponed the last ten dates here in the U.S. as singer Brian Johnson stepped away from the group blaming hearing issues. in a highly controversial move, AC/DC pressed on with replacement singer Axl Rose, on loan from Guns N’ Roses.
And as AC/DC was touring Europe last summer, bassist Cliff Williams announced he was retiring after the current run of dates.
The last of AC/DC’s rescheduled U.S. concerts is tonight and after this show in Philadelphia, their schedule is clear. Could this be the end of the band?
Here’s some thoughts from Angus.
