Slash’s divorce from his wife Perla Hudson has a new twist — he claims they were never married!
TMZ reports that the latest legal maneuver in the case stems from Perla’s first marriage to Carlos Marty back in 1993. It only lasted a month and she thought she’d gotten divorced, but the final forms were never properly filed. When Slash and Perla tried to get dual citizenship for their son, Cash, they discovered during a document search that she was not properly divorced.
Perla claims that in 2009, they got the divorce finalized and made retroactive to 1994. But now dispute that and say she’s not eligible to half the earnings he accumulated during the 13-year marriage.
TMZ adds that the strategy might not work — a California law about “putative spouses” says that if two people have a reasonable belief they’re married but there’s some irregularity in the documents, a judge can still treat them as married.
