Journey’s Jonathan Cain says the door has always been open for singer Steve Perry to join them — he just hasn’t wanted to walk through it.
The band is up for a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame if the voters cooperate. And Cain’s also a bit upset by the Rock Hall’s decision to omit current singer Arnel Pineda, who’s now in his 10th year with the band, and original drummer Aynsley Dunbar, who played on their first four albums, from entering with them if they get in. Cain argues that Pineda has lasted “longer than any lead singer has consecutively stayed in the band. He’s given us 10 years straight, not running off or doing this, doing that, just being The Guy. So that’s worth something.”
Perry has yet to react to the Hall of Fame nomination and hasn’t spoken with the other members in a number of years. (Billboard)
