Soundgarden That’s a Big, Bad Box

Don’t ask Chris Cornell to sing some of the songs that are on the Soundgarden Badmotorfinger Super Deluxe Edition box set — he doesn’t remember them!

The package, out tomorrow (Friday), includes an entire disc of studio outtakes as well as a full concert on two CDs. Cornell says they released so much music between 1989 and 1991 — including Louder Than Love, Badmotorfinger and the Temple of the Dog album — he was surprised that they had so much in the vaults. He tells us, “The idea that there’s anything outside what was released, given that [short time frame], I think, how did we have the time and energy to do that?”

Cornell admits that when he was listening to the set, “There’s a bunch of stuff I didn’t remember. We were never a band that was smart about having a chronicler there, so when you go back and research all this stuff it was a kind of a shock.”

There’s also a two-disc version of the set and a remastered version of the album on CD and vinyl out this weekend as well. For a peek at the box set, check out an unboxing video featuring bassist Ben Shepherd
