Guns N’ RosesFinally Returning to St. Louis?

It looks like the reunited Guns n’ Roses will finally return to where one of the worst chapters in the band’s history took place — St. Louis.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that electronic billboards have popped up around the city teasing the Not in This Lifetime tour. One reads, “Welcome to the Jungle” while the other says, “Patience.” The city was on the band’s initial list of stadiums for this past summer, but when the tour routing was announced, it had been dropped. An official announcement is expected soon.

The last time GNR played in St. Louis was on July 2nd, 1991 at the then-named Riverport Amphitheatre just outside the city. During “Rocket Queen” Axl Rose pointed out a fan taking pictures of the show. He jumped into the audience, tackled the person and took the camera. He then returned to the stage, grabbed his mic, said he was going home and slammed it on the stage.

Slash then told the audience that Rose had just smashed a mic (which some thought was the sound of a gunshot) and they were leaving. The audience broke into a riot where dozens of people were injured and arrested. Rose was arrested a year later for inciting the “Riverfront Riot,” but a judge dismissed the charges.

In the thank you sections of GNR’s Use Your Illusion albums they included the note, “[Eff] you, St. Louis!”
