The Rolling Stones release Blue and Lonesome today . It’s their first studio album since 2005’s A Bigger Bang.
The band went into Mark Knopfler’s British Grove Studios in London late year with the intention of cutting mostly new material, but then they took a detour by doing blues covers.
They cut the album’s 12 tracks in five days. Eric Clapton, who happened to be recording his own album in the same studio, plays on two of them — “Everybody Knows About My Good Thing” and “I Can’t Quit You Baby.”
The title track was originally done by blues legend Little Walter, who originally did four songs on the album.
In conjunction with the album release, the Stones have released the second video from the album. The clip for their version of Eddie Taylor’s “Ride ‘Em on Down” stars actress Kristen Stewart.
