In the midst of grief, Vicky Cornell has announced that a statue of her late husband will be built and placed somewhere in Seattle. The statue has been designed by Wayne Toth, who created Johnny Ramone’s statue, located at his place of burial in Los Angeles.
Along with the statue, Cornell also donated $100,000 to the Seattle nonprofit Childhaven to create the Chris Cornell Music Therapy Program. The program will provide support to children who deal with physical and psychological abuse, trauma, neglect, etc. Chris was adamant about helping others, so Vicky hopes that doing the same will allow herself and their family to heal while preserving Chris’ legacy.
Proceeds from Chris’ last single “The Promise” will also be donated to the International Rescue Committee, an organization very important to the Cornell family.
